SB 279: Expanding scope of practice is a dangerous risk with proven drawbacks.

MiRadiologists have valid concerns on current legislation that proposes to expand the scope of practice for nurse practitioners (NPs). This legislation would allow NPs to provide care that physicians spend years training to become qualified to give patients. By forgoing that essential training and expertise, Senate Bill 279 puts every citizen in Michigan at risk by compromising standards of care and patient safety.

This legislation is detrimental to the current physician-led team in radiology that is so critical to ensuring safe medical practice.
